Uruguay set the tempo from the opening tip. A 27-20 first quarter gave them control, and they reached halftime up six, 43-37. Puerto Rico answered in the second period, 17-16, but Uruguay pulled away again in the third, 21-18, stretching the lead to nine, 64-55.
Bruno Fitipaldo led Uruguay with 20 points and six assists, shooting 5-for-11 from deep. J. Rodriguez added 17 points and S. Vescovi came off the bench with 16 and seven rebounds. G. Iglesias chipped in 12 points on four made threes.

Uruguay's perimeter shooting made the difference: 15-for-35 from three-point range (42.9%). Puerto Rico won the rebounding battle, 40-25, and recorded more assists, 22-19, yet could not offset Uruguay's edge beyond the arc, where the visitors went 9-for-26.
The result moves Uruguay to 6-2 and keeps them third in Americas Group F. Puerto Rico drop to 2-6 and remain fifth in the pool. For Uruguay, the win strengthens their qualifying position; for Puerto Rico, the defeat leaves them with even less room for error in the standings.
