FC Barcelona have officially announced the signing of Justin Minaya. The Dominican-American forward has agreed to a two-year contract running through 30 June 2028, becoming the Catalan club's 11th summer addition.
Minaya, 27 years old and 1.96 metres tall, arrives in Europe after a career split between the NBA and the G League. Last season he played for the Osceola Magic, Orlando Magic's affiliate, averaging 9.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.1 blocks per game in regular-season G League action.
He has 57 NBA appearances with the Portland Trail Blazers between the 2022-23 and 2024-25 seasons, averaging 1.7 points and 1.4 rebounds. Before reaching the main roster, he also played in the G League with Mexico City Capitanes, Rip City Remix and, most recently, Osceola.
After four years at the University of South Carolina and a final college season at Providence College, Minaya brings a versatile defensive profile. Barcelona describe him as a player capable of guarding positions one through four, while contributing energy, off-ball movement and offensive rebounding.
The move fits Barcelona's roster reshaping ahead of the EuroLeague season. After a summer of multiple departures and arrivals, the club is looking to strengthen its perimeter rotation with a young, athletic profile accustomed to high-level competition.
For Minaya, this is his first experience in European basketball. He arrives with room to grow offensively, but with a resume that combines NBA minutes, G League consistency and a clear defensive role that can fit the intensity EuroLeague demands.
