Tenth addition for the new Barça project
Barcelona have signed Yoan Makoundou as a new interior on a two-year contract until 30 June 2028 from AS Monaco. The 26-year-old French forward-center, listed at 2.07m, becomes the tenth official arrival for the roster set to be led by Sekulic in a summer of major turnover following the club’s announcement on Saturday.
Profile and fit
Makoundou brings versatility to play both power forward and center, with the ability to space the floor, protect the rim and run in transition. Developed at Cholet and with previous stints at Buducnost, Türk Telekom and in China before establishing himself with AS Monaco, he has EuroLeague and EuroCup experience and featured in the playoffs with the Monegasque side, a career path outlined by Encestando and Gigantes del Basket.
Deal and context
The agreement for two seasons comes a year after the Frenchman was first linked with Barça in the summer of 2025 when a departure from Monaco was on the cards. The signing adds athleticism and depth to the frontcourt rotation for the challenges in Liga Endesa and Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
